2026 SNUG K-12 National Conference: Full Schedule

This roundtable session will focus on the transition of BusinessPlus Click, Drag, and Drill (CDD) reports from legacy VBScript to Python. The goal is to share real-world approaches, challenges, and lessons learned when modernizing CDD reporting solutions.
Participants will have the opportunity to discuss topics such as:

Identifying and prioritizing reports for conversion
Approaches to rewriting VBScript logic in Python
Managing dependencies, testing, and validation
Ensuring maintainability and long-term sustainability

This will be an interactive session designed to encourage open discussion. Attendees are invited to share their current strategies, tools, and timelines, as well as ask questions and collaborate on common challenges related to CDD modernization.

Legacy code doesn't have to mean eternal tech debt. In this session, we will walk through the real world journey of migrating BusinessPlus workflows away from VBScript and into a modern, robust C# architecture.

We’ll skip the high level theory and get straight into the practical mechanics of a massive code migration. You’ll see exactly how we decompiled and traced legacy systems (from .DLL to Intermediate Language), how to navigate the official Powersource WF migration docs, and most importantly a side by side, 1:1 comparison of old VBScript code versus its battle-tested C# equivalents.

The 1:1 Conversion Code Blueprint: Direct visual comparisons of old VBScript workflows vs. new C# implementations, featuring essential Namespaces (like using IFAS.Common;) and battle tested helper methods.

Architecture & Naming Standards: Establish general naming principles and assembly reference frameworks to ensure your new C# environment remains clean and maintainable.

Automated Documentation (SQL to Wiki.js): Learn how we used Python to parse production workflows (tracking version histories, status flags and automatically generate living documentation in Wiki.js.

The Migration Roadmap: A look at how to audit, track, and prioritize active workflows (such as AP APRV CLAY or AD_DOWNLOAD) to ensure zero downtime during a major tech stack evolution. Kanban.
